Objectives
Tata Energy Research Institute (TERI) is deeply committed to:
providing environment-friendly solutions to rural energy problems;
helping shape the development of the Indian oil and gas sector;
tackling global climate change issues across many continents;
enhancing forest conservation efforts among local communities;
advancing solutions to growing urban transport and air pollution problems; and
promoting energy efficiency in the Indian industry.
Activities
TERI's primary activities are documentation and information dissemination as well as research activities in the fields of energy, environment, and sustainable development.
Sample Project
TERI's "Deployment of Sustainable Energy Systems: An Agenda for Cooperation" project is designed to formulate policies for better urban transport planning and the promotion of renewable energy in Asia.
It is a concerted action supported by the European Commission under the INCO-DC programme. It draws upon the expertise available from European nations and facilitates networking between European and Asian counterparts to share experiences in:
development of renewable energy in Asia; and
implementation of policies to mitigate air pollution in Asia.
The sharing of experiences is expected to translate into cooperation, leading to bilateral or multilateral initiatives in different areas such as technology, policy interventions, and implementation strategies.
